Lewie Dunsworth, CISO and EVP of Global Security Services at Herjavec Group, spoke to The CyberWire Daily Podcast about the increase of ransomware in the healthcare sector.
"It really comes down to patient care," Dunsworth says. "The priority to secure data is secondary."
According to Lewie, it can be difficult for doctors and other healthcare providers to shift their primary focus from patient care to cybersecurity. However, it's imperative that healthcare institutions realize that experiencing a security incident will greatly impact the level of patient care that doctors can provide.
"The fundamentals [of cybersecurity] are the same. It's the approach and execution of how you enable [them] in an environment that makes a difference."
