Herjavec Group Named Security Services Leader by IDC
According to IDC analysis and buyer perception, Herjavec Group (HG) is an IDC MarketScape Leader in the security services market in Canada.
Herjavec Group was founded in 2003 by Robert Herjavec in the Greater Toronto Area, and is now a global security product and service provider. Herjavec Group has offices across Canada in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal. Two of the firm’s three Security Operations Centres are based in Canada – in Toronto, and Ottawa – with its third at HG’s U.S.A. headquarters in Los Angeles, California. A fourth SOC is slated to open in Q2 2017 in the firm’s new U.K. head office in Reading, U.K. Herjavec Group has 275 employees supporting its security services operations. The majority of Herjavec Group’s customers operate in the financial and utilities verticals.
Herjavec Group breaks security services into 5 categories: Consulting, Delivery, Identity and Access Management, Managed Security, and Incident Response. Herjavec Group’s Managed Services practice relies on two custom-built solutions: (1) the Herjavec Group Threat Framework which proactively identifies attacks through threat modelling applied to managed technologies, and (2) the Herjavec Group Analytics Platform which filters, then correlates, customer data and threat intelligence into actionable, relevant alerts. Herjavec Group ingests log sources from the SIEM located on the client’s site, applies its Threat Framework, and begins automatic alert processing, and data enrichment through their Analytics Platform. Herjavec Group takes a multi-tiered approach to threat intelligence with localized threat intel (feeds at customer SIEM level), global threat intel (via HG Analytics Platform) and by offering a threat hunting service. Herjavec Group has been certified as Service Organization Controls (SOC) 2.0 compliant demonstrating the ability to handle and process customer data safely. Herjavec Group has created a significant amount of documentation around its service offerings in an effort to simplify onboarding new customers.
Alongside its expansion internationally, Herjavec Group continues to invest in new security solutions, and recently brought on additional staff to enhance its identity management offerings, including adding more support for cloud environments.
Herjavec Group offers co-op placements to students at Humber and Seneca colleges and recruits regularly from Ryerson University and the University of Toronto. With a presence in California, Herjavec Group is in a position to recruit talent from Silicon Valley.
Herjavec Group has a strong base of Canadian customers, and continues to build brand recognition worldwide. Expanding into the US and Europe will allow Herjavec Group to attract new multinational clients. Herjavec Group’s SIEM Managed Service offering can be deployed in a public, private, or on-premise environments providing flexibility to customers and is seen as a differentiator in the security services market.
Herjavec Group’s custom built solutions have their advantages but the organization must ensure they are continuously updated to reflect new and emerging threats.
