Herjavec Group Recognized as 2018 IDC Security Services Leader

March 26, 2018

The 2018 Canadian Security Services IDC study presents a vendor assessment of security services in Canada through the IDC MarketScape model. Using the IDC MarketScape model, 17 security service providers with operations and customers in Canada were compared. This process included interviewing all 17 providers and one or more customers from each provider (if made available) on managed and professional security services. Providers were measured in terms of current capabilities and future strategies for delivering services to customers in the Canadian market.

Kevin Lonergan, senior analyst, Infrastructure Solutions, says, "Strong revenue growth in security services is increasing competition among Canadian players as value-added resellers and systems integrators double down on security as their traditional markets slow. Still, digital transformation, cloud, and mobility are expanding organizations' attack surfaces to an evolving threat landscape, creating ample opportunities and greenfield growth for all."

Herjavec Group is thrilled to announce that we have been named a 2018 IDC Security Services Leader in the IDC MarketScape for Canadian Security Services.

The following is an excerpt from the IDC analysis:

Vendor Summary Profiles: Herjavec Group

According to IDC analysis and buyer perception, Herjavec Group (HG) is an IDC MarketScape Leader in the security services market in Canada.

Founded in 2003, Herjavec Group is a pure-play cybersecurity product and service provider, supporting enterprise-level organizations. The provider has offices across Canada in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal hosting over 250 security professionals including dedicated threat hunting and incident response teams. Two of the firm's four SOCs are based in Canada — in Toronto and Ottawa. HG also operates across the United States and the United Kingdom with additional SOCs located in the firm's international headquarters. For 2018, HG will continue expanding its Canadian operations, adding 20 or more team members to support device management and security monitoring out of Toronto.

In addition to offering cybersecurity products, HG maps its cyberservice expertise to the IT security life cycle supporting consulting, professional services, identity and access management, managed security services, and incident response. Herjavec Group's managed services supports the major SIEM platforms and has tight integration with Splunk. HG supports on-premise and cloud SIEM.

HG has built two custom solutions to support its managed security services practice: HG Threat Framework and HG Analytics Platform. The HG Threat Framework includes a set of core use cases that are applied at the SIEM level to capture log data across key attack categories. HG developed its own Splunk App to package its Threat Framework, dashboards, reports, and alerting into a single application powered by Splunk's GUI. This new application saves time onboarding new customers and enhances HG’s ability to audit the quality of log data seamlessly. The firm's Analytics Platform enhances existing SIEM platforms to filter threat intelligence and customer data into actionable, relevant alerts.

The firm's professional services practice includes design review and architecture assessment as well as technology implementation and optimization across perimeter, infrastructure, endpoint, network, and SIEM technologies. HG has evolved its services to include identity and access management as well as identity managed services, which includes 24 x 7 IAM platform monitoring and configuration services. ©2018 IDC Excerpt of #CA43005218 6

Strengths

HG's focus on hosted security services, identity management, staff training, proprietary enhancements for Splunk, large customer base, brand recognition and national coverage count among its strengths.

Challenges

Over the past few years, HG has evolved into a global security services player. As the provider enters new markets and wins larger contracts, it needs to maintain the same level of services to its Canadian and midmarket customers.
